What’cha Playin’? 7/21/16 – Worms and Pokemon TGC

I’ve been playing Worms 3D as well as Worms Armageddon. Nothing to say there, really, hoping to get a review or two up soon. I’m also playing the Pokemon Trading Card Game Game for Game Boy Color. I also took a late night/early morning walk and caught a Victreebel in Pokemon GO. Sorry, not much today.

What’cha Playin’? 7/20/16 – Worms 3D

Last night a friend I haven’t seen in a while came over and we played a little bit of Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, since he hadn’t seen it yet. After some Thai food and ice cream, we came back to my place and played some Worms 3D.

Worms is a fairly popular series. It’s a versus-style multiplayer game that involves teams of worms with different weapons trying to kill all other worms by either knocking them into the water around the map, or by depleting all of their health. Worms is typically a 2D game, but this one is obviously 3D. There are all sorts of weapons from bazookas and grenades to crazy things like exploding sheep, and a bomb that explodes into many bananas. The games are a lot of crazy fun to play with friends. All of the environments are destructible, meaning the battle area can get messy after a few turns. I think I’ll play some more of it to unlock some new stages even though you can totally just make some randomly generated stages.

What’cha Playin’? 7/15/16 — July 15, 2016

What’cha Playin’? 7/15/16

Last night I spent the night at my girlfriends house, so instead of hunting for Pokemon in GO, I played a little bit of Pokemon Blue and a bit of Super Monkey Ball with her. It’s not a bad game, in fact, it’s pretty fun. I’m trying to grind out a Nidoran male in Blue version, but there’s only a 5% chance of him spawning, leaving me with no luck so far. Not too much else to say for today. I’ll see everyone on Monday.

What’cha Playin’? 7/12/16 – Pokemon Blue — July 12, 2016

What’cha Playin’? 7/12/16 – Pokemon Blue

With Pokemon GO out, I have a renewed interest in Pokemon, so I fired up the GameCube Game Boy Player, and popped in my Pokemon Blue Version. It’s time to get back on the Pokemon horse, so to speak, and with GO revitalizing the Pokemon scene (not that it ever really need revitalizing) it makes me want to go back to basics. So I started with my Bulbasaur (like always) and got myself to Viridian Forest. Current party is Weedle, Caterpie, Pikachu, and Bulbasaur. Also played some Super Monkey Ball with the girlfriend, and of course, I pop into my Animal Crossing town daily to see what’s up. I was unlucky enough to have all of my weeds for the day spawn into the same acre, so I need to start my 15-day perfect streak from start. Either that, or I missed a weed or two yesterday… Whoops!

What’cha Playin’? 7/7/16 — July 7, 2016

What’cha Playin’? 7/7/16

The last two day in Animal Crossing were spend perfecting the tree situation in my town to ensure it stays at “Perfect Town” status. I even made note to a few “problem acres” in my town to make sure that I plant a new tree before the old sapling gets dug up, so I don’t dip below where I need to be, at least, until one of these finicky trees grow, anyway. I’m also at 100,000 bells left on my debt of the largest house, so with any luck (or more importantly, time) I’ll have that all paid off by the end of the day.

In Custom Robo, I’ve been steadily completing Grand Battle tournaments when I can. I’m coming up on the last few tournaments, I think!

Animal Crossing Review – GameCube — July 6, 2016

Animal Crossing Review – GameCube

My Animal Crossing review is now live. You can read the full review from the Review page, or by clicking here.

Also, did you know that Cyberphile has a Facebook page? Feel free to swing by and get our new posts in your newsfeed.

Here’s the bottom line if you don’t have time to read the full review:

The Bottom Line

Pros

  • Fun, relaxing gameplay and music.
  • Easy to get attached to.
  • Tons to do and collect.
  • Make your own goals.

Cons

  • The time between the closed shop.
  • Takes a decently large time commitment.
  • Slow paced.
  • Make your own goals.

Final Score: 9.5/10

Depending on who you ask, Animal Crossing is either an amazing game or an incredibly boring one. Some people don’t like making their own goals and the idea of not being able to sit down and “power through” a game sometimes turns some people away. That said, I’m in the first camp; I think Animal Crossing is amazing, fun, and relaxing, and everyone should try it at least once.

What’cha Playin’? 7/5/16 — July 5, 2016

What’cha Playin’? 7/5/16

I’ve been working a lot, and have also been busy outside of work, so I haven’t had too much time for myself, unfortunately. I do manage to play a bit of Animal Crossing though, last night was the Fireworks Show, so I got to watch fireworks and buy hand-fans from Crazy Redd at his booth by the pond. My house is a big as it gets (though I’m still paying it off) and my Nook’s is also at its largest with Nookingtons. I’m also at Perfect Town status, so I just have to keep it that way for 15 days to get the Golden Axe.

When I’m not playing Animal Crossing, I’m squeezing in Custom Robo, usually during the time that the shops are closed in Animal Crossing. I’m working my way through the Grand Battle mode, the 2nd part of the 2-part story mode; I want to eventually get all gold trophies in all of the cups, but it may prove difficult.

Custom Robo – (BGE) — July 4, 2016

Custom Robo – (BGE)

My Custom Robo review for the Best Games Ever list is now live. You can read the full review from the Best Games Ever list, or by clicking here.

Here’s a preview of my review for Custom Robo:

Custom Robo was a game I tried on a whim back in my GameCube games, and was one of the few titles I never traded in for a newer game, and there is good reason for not doing so.

Custom Robo is the first game in the Custom Robo series to be released outside of Japan, eventually followed by the DS sequel in 2007 (NA), Custom Robo Arena. The first 3 Custom Robo games were only released in Japan on the Nintendo 64 and Game Boy Advance, so, unfortunately, we never really got a fair shot at them.

What’cha Playin’? 7/1/16 – Custom Robo

Happy July! Yesterday was another pretty useless day in the world of Animal Crossing. Nook closes his shop down to do a raffle (which I didn’t win, by the way) so I ended up with a full inventory pretty quickly. Luckily Crazy Redd came to my town his rare albeit overpriced goods, so at least I got a NES with Clu Clu Land in it. Probably one of my favorite features of Animal Crossing was the ability to collect some NES games.

So, I typically work evenings, so by the time I come home, I can only do a little bit in Animal Crossing, as townsfolk go to bed and stores close. So I usually try to find something else to play. I’m on a bit of a GameCube kick right now, so I popped Custom Robo in last night. Man, I almost forgot how GREAT of a game that is. I might have to add it to a certain list of Best Games ever… So I’ll spare you a review/preview of that… For now!

Lastly, I heard a remastered Bioshock Collection is coming out on next gen systems September 13th. I’m VERY excited for that. Check it out!

What’cha Playin’? 6/30/16 – Animal Crossing — June 30, 2016

What’cha Playin’? 6/30/16 – Animal Crossing

Yesterday was a pretty busy day for me, so I only really had enough time to do my daily BS in Animal Crossing. That said, I’ve successfully caught any bugs or fish that will be disappearing tomorrow as the month changes over, the last one being the Large Char. I also scored a Game Boy Player and the appropriate startup disk for my GameCube, and that came in the mail yesterday as well. Now my GameCube looks like a double decker bus! That’s pretty much all I have to say for today.
