Here’s the bottom line if you don’t have time to read the full review:

The Bottom Lines

Pros

  • Lots of collectables and great gameplay length.
  • Beautiful land and enemies bring the world to life and keep things interesting.
  • Nice amount of character customization, and the ability to change anything about your character whenever.
  • Great online multiplayer.

Cons

  • No leveling system, making a lot of things seem pointless.
  • Combat can get old and monotonous very quickly.
  • Story is boring and uninteresting.
  • A somewhat unforgivable difficulty curve at points.

Final Score: 7/10

This game was a lot of fun, and if you can get past the cons, this game is actually a lot of fun. Feel free to drop it to a 6/10 if everything seems too monotonous for you, and maybe bump it up to an 8/10 if you love grindy Monster Hunter style stuff.

  • Very fun Metroidvania style gameplay mixed with brawler style combat.
  • Beautiful environments and unique characters blended together with a lovable cartoon style.
  • Cross-buy, cross-save, and Vita controller function.

Cons

  • Too short!

Final Score: 9/10

Guacamelee! is a fun, great game that will keep you wanting more. Unfortunately, there is only so much for Guacamelee! to give. All in all, an excellent title everyone should play.

Here’s the bottom line if you don’t have time to read the full review:

The Bottom Lines

Pros

  • Fun gameplay.
  • See PlayStation characters duke it out.
  • Great party game with friends.
  • Tight controls that are just as good as the console version’s.
  • Nice customization features.

Cons

  • A somewhat uncompelling story.
  • Not as deep gameplay mechanics as SSB.
  • Can get boring and monotonous playing alone.

Final Score: 8/10

If you loved games like SSB, this is definitely enjoyable and fun, especially with friends. If you have a PS3, definitely go for the cross buy deal.

Pros

  • Great gameplay, music, and presentation, typical of LBP.
  • Awesome community and level design tools.
  • Plenty of customization.
  • Hours of collectables

Cons

  • Very poor online play

Final Score: 8/10

LittleBigPlanet is right where it belongs: in the palm of your hand. Feel free to change that to 9/10 if they ever improve the online play in a patch.

Let’s Fish! Hooked On – Review (PlayStation Vita) — March 16, 2016

Let’s Fish! Hooked On – Review (PlayStation Vita)

My Let’s Fish! Hooked On review is now live. You can read the full review from the Review page, or by clicking here.

Also, did you know that Cyberphile has a Facebook page? Feel free to swing by and get our new posts in your newsfeed.

Here’s the bottom line if you don’t have time to read the full review:

Pros

  • Fast paced, arcade style gameplay.
  • Excellent length, unlockables, and replayability. (Especially for 20$)
  • Great portable game.
  • Interesting environments.

Cons

  • Uninteresting story and fairly bland characters.
  • Tons of almost game-breaking glitches.
  • Somewhat boring and repetitive.
  • Annoying character sound clips.
  • While the graphics can be impressive, there are simply too many awful looking textures and mismatch between the environments, fish, and characters.

Final Score: 4/10

Unfortunately, the bad outweighs the good in this fast paced fishing simulator. If they ever patch those glitches, feel free to bump it up to a 5 or a 6. It’s still great fun, and if you’re a fishing buff, this is all you’ve got, I’m afraid.

Final Score: 3/10

If you really like COD, go ahead and make it a 4. Either way it’s an okay COD experience on a handheld, just don’t expect the console experience that was promised.

Reviews Page Now Up! — March 10, 2016

Reviews Page Now Up!

If you’re a frequent visitor of Cyberphile, you’ll now notice that there is a page for Reviews on the main menu at the top of Cyberphile! As it turns out, I used to be a (non profit) PlayStation Vita reviewer on a now-defunct website. So, I’ll be posting my old reviews while I play some other games. Games that I play to completion will receive a review, so you can look forward to more than just PlayStation Vita titles. These reviews are a more traditional style of review, with pros, cons, and a score out of 10, unlike the Best Game Ever reviews, where I just gush about how much I love the game and try to convince you to play it.
