The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask (BGE)

My The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask review for the Best Games Ever list is now live. You can read the full review from the Best Games Ever list, or by clicking here.

Here’s a preview of my review for The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask:

I have a theory: Your favorite Legend of Zelda is the one you grew up with. I certainly fall into this category, as The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask is the Zelda game I grew up with. In fact, the first time I played Ocarina of Time was on the 3DS; I had no nostalgic connection to it, same with a Link to the Past. If you’re my age, your favorite is probably either Ocarina or Majora, depending on which one you had, or the one you spent the most time with. If you’re a little older than me, your favorite is probably a Link to the Past, and if you’re a little younger, it’s probably the Wind Waker. Honestly, these are all fantastic games, but Majora’s Mask stands out to me as being the best Zelda game ever. Why? Well, there’s a number of reasons, but first let me get the basics out of the way.

What’cha Playin’? 1/12/17

Last night, I couldn’t sleep, so I fired up the 3DS and knocked out the Great Bay Temple in the Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D. I was roaming around that damn temple for far too long before I noticed some of the hookshot targets on the ceiling… Ah well. Water temples are always annoying. With that one down, I only have one more area and temple to complete (and a good deal of side questy things) before I can finish the game. Man, I love this game. Maybe a review will come up soon!

What’cha Doin’? – 1/9/17

If you haven’t yet seen it, check out my You Should be Playing Rocket League video on Cyberphile’s YouTube channel. I’m pretty happy with the final product.

I’ve been playing some more Majora’s Mask 3D and have done everything I feel like doing before entering the Great Bay temple. Now I just gotta wait for my friend to catch up. Hopefully we can bang it out in the next few nights before I go back up to college for work and school.

Moving right along, I’ve gotta get some recording done for my next video, so I’m throwing around a few ideas and may end up with some Let’s Play videos. My current ideas are either a classic DOOM You Should be Playing video, or doing a Let’s Play series of Gravity Rush Remastered, as Gravity Rush 2’s release date is rapidly approaching. I have a few other ideas too, but I don’t want to make any promises.

Make sure you keep up with Cyberphile’s Twitch and Twitter to see when streaming happens, as whatever I stream tends to be what the next video is on. Stay tuned!

What’cha Playin’? 1/4/17

I’ve decided my next video will be on Rocket League, and as such, I’ve been playing that in an effort to get some decent footage with which to edit. Sadly, it’s been a decent amount of time since I played Rocket League, and I feel like that’s fairly obvious in my gameplay… Ah well.

Aside from that, I’ve made it through the Pirate’s Fortress in Majora’s Mask 3D. Now I just have to wait for my buddy to catch up. You can watch him catch up on Twitch!

And finally, if you have an iPhone, you should check out DJ Max Ray. To sum it up, it’s like Korean-Guitar Hero for your fingers. If you’ve ever played the DJ Max games or love music/rhythm games (like myself), you should check it out. They give you 10 songs for free (and 2 unlockable), but then you have to buy 5 song packs (with 1 unlockable) for 1.99 a piece, or go with one of the many bundle deals. Personally, I’m a sucker for music/rhythm games, and whenever I have a few uninterrupted minutes,  I play a song or two. It’s pretty high quality for a mobile game. Highly recommend.

Now, onto script writing, editing, and probably a bit more recording for my Rocket League video… Before I have to go to work, anyway. Stay tuned!

What’cha Playin’? 1/3/17

Well, I’ve been playing some Garou: Mark of Wolves on Twitch, and last night I tried my hand at the original Sonic the Hedgehog, to no avail. I made it to Labyrinth Zone’s boss, but just couldn’t make it. It gets pretty tough!

Additionally, I’ve been playing The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D along side my friend playing the original to spot the differences and so I can eventually do a full review on my favorite Zelda game.

Lastly, I’ve been throwing around some idea for my next video on YouTube… We’ll see where that train of thoughts leads me.

New Video on YouTube! — January 2, 2017

New Video on YouTube!

All week I’ve been working (at my job) and when I haven’t been doing that, I’ve been working on editing my new video on Cyberphile’s channel on YouTube: You Should be Playing: Garou: Mark of the Wolves. I’m actually pretty happy with how it turned out, but I’d like to hear your feedback. I’m working on improving, and I’ll need to start recording for another video soon.

Additionally, if you’re a Twitter person, Cyberphile now has a Twitter that should get updated whenever we go live on Twitch or upload a new video on YouTube.

And speaking of Twitch, we’ve been playing Garou: Mark of the Wolves and the Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask on stream. Plus clips for my next video will be streamed there too, most likely.

A lot of stuff, actually. If you’re not following Cyberphile on Twitch, you’re missing out on streams of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, and Deus Ex. There’s more to come too! If you’re following on Facebook, I always post when I’m streaming, or when I plan to. You can probably expect more streaming tonight. I haven’t been recording microphone audio, but I will be soon.

I’m actually guiding my friend through his first playthrough of Majora, and Garou is just a ton of fun with us beating up on each other. I did start Deus Ex, and there are a lot of really neat ideas in it.

From what I understand, Deus Ex is kind of like cybernetic James Bond. You’re an anti-terrorist agent with a neuro-interface fighting terrorists and using different weapons, tools (like lockpicks and hacking tools) and your wits to deal with threats. You’re actually pretty squishy, so there is an emphasis on sneaking instead of dealing with a threat head on. Luckily, objectives often have multiple ways to tackle them. You can always just take the front door, guns-a-blazing, or multiple other options, like entering a nearby building first, taking a sewer or ventilation shaft, and so on. There are also some RPG elements that work really nicely. As you complete objectives or explore hidden areas, you’ll be given skill points to spend on various things like your skill with various weaponry, the effectiveness of medikits, how good you are at lockpicking or hacking, and much more. I’ve only completed the first two main missions in the game, so I’m still getting my feet wet, but it seems pretty cool.
