BioShock 2 – Upgraded to BGE — October 3, 2016

BioShock 2 – Upgraded to BGE

For the first time in Cyberphile history, a game I have previously reviewed has received an upgrade from the Reviews page to the list of Best Games Ever. BioShock 2 truly deserves its title. You can read the full review from the Best Games Ever list, or by clicking here. I’ve made a few small changes to the page, but it’s more or less the same as the review.

Here’s a preview of my review for BioShock 2:

BioShock 2 had some big (daddy) boots to fill after the first BioShock. BioShock was amazing, and well worthy of the Best Games Ever List. Well, how does 2 hold up in comparison? (Note: This is coming from the BioShock Collection for PS4, so the multiplayer aspect is missing from this review.)

Pretty dang good, actually. BioShock 2 takes all of the things that made the first BioShock great, and made it better and more streamlined, with the exception of the story, if you ask me. While there were some pretty tense moments, nothing quite beats the big reveal in the first BioShock.

Street Fighter III: Third Strike: Fight for the Future (BGE) — April 20, 2016

Here’s a preview of my review for Street Fighter III: Third Strike: Fight for the Future:

Street Fighter III: Third Strike: Fight for the Future is one of those games that when my friends come over, we can always default to. Many nights were spent playing Third Strike for hours on end, slowly learning each character one by one. When we were at our peak for Third Strike, I was playing with nearly every character, and playing pretty well too! (by my friend’s standards, certainly not on a professional level) It’s just one of those games for us.

Here’s a preview of my review for Portal:

Everybody knows Portal, and for good reason. When Valve made Portal, they had no idea the kind of huge, positive reception they were going to receive. As a matter of fact, that’s why they put it in The Orange Box with Half-Life 2 and Team Fortress 2. Portal was just kind of placed in there as an an extra spot, not really anticipating that it would take off like it did. And did it ever, creating a huge fan following and even spurring a sequel.

Here’s a preview of my review for Bioshock:

Bioshock is a title that really grabbed me. It’s got a great presentation, a fast paced and exiting opening, a deep and interesting story, and really good gameplay. For me, Bioshock is a really hard game to put down. It’s just a great game.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves/Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves (BGE) — February 11, 2016

Garou: Mark of the Wolves/Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves (BGE)

Here’s a preview:

“Certainly, they existed. Those blinded by ambition. Those consumed with vengeance. But here, they do not exist. Only winners and losers here. For here, the mighty rule!” Garou: Mark of the Wolves is my friend’s and mine main go-to fighter, right next to Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike: Fight for the Future. The reason? It’s simple, balanced, fun, and has plenty of cool characters. Also, I own a stand up Neo Geo MVS cabinet, so there is no better way to play a fighter than shoulder to shoulder, in my opinion.

Mirror’s Edge (BGE) — February 9, 2016

Mirror’s Edge (BGE)

Here’s a preview:

Mirror’s Edge was one of those games that I downloaded the demo for and instantly fell in love. As a matter of fact, I played the demo over and over again, until I knew that first stage practically by heart. During the time that Mirror’s Edge was coming out was around the time I was just getting into parkour, and so this game really clicked for me. Not only that, but the ending theme is awfully beautiful.
